Overview

TECHNO Fibreglass Reinforcing Mesh is a high-strength, alkali-resistant glass fibre fabric designed for reinforcing compatible renders, cement-based screeds, waterproofing membranes and external insulation systems. Its stable woven construction helps distribute stress through the applied system while reducing movement, cracking and yarn displacement. The mesh is supplied from a 1 metre wide roll and sold by the linear metre, meaning one linear metre provides approximately 1m² of coverage. The mesh must be fully embedded into the nominated wet adhesive, basecoat, render or waterproofing layer and must not be left exposed.

A product inspection sheet is available confirming the mesh weight, resin content, yarn count, tensile breaking strength, elongation and B1 fire-retardant classification.

Where project-specific documentation is required for an architect, engineer or building consent authority, contact Surtec. Surtec can provide the available product data and request a written compatibility or suitability statement from the nominated adhesive, render or system manufacturer. Final acceptance remains subject to the project designer, engineer and relevant building consent authority.

1. How is TECHNO Fibreglass Mesh sold?

The mesh is supplied from a 1 metre wide roll and sold by the linear metre. A quantity of 1 provides approximately 1m². A quantity of 5 provides a continuous piece approximately 1 metre wide by 5 metres long, subject to cutting and stock availability.

2. What applications is the mesh suitable for?

It is designed for reinforcing compatible renders, cement-based screeds, waterproofing membranes and external insulation systems. Suitability must be confirmed for the intended substrate, exposure conditions and complete product system.

3. What tensile testing is available?

The supplied inspection sheet records a longitudinal tensile breaking strength of 1,890N/50mm and a weft tensile breaking strength of 2,061N/50mm. These results measure the strength of the mesh fabric and are not adhesive pull-off or substrate bond tests.

4. Has the product been tested for wind suction?

The available mesh inspection sheet does not contain wind suction testing. Wind suction performance must normally be considered for the complete installed façade or exterior system rather than the mesh in isolation. Contact Surtec where project-specific wind-load documentation is required.

5. Can Surtec provide information for a council consent application?

Surtec can provide the available product data sheet and technical information. Where additional evidence is requested, Surtec can approach the nominated adhesive, render or system manufacturer for a project-specific compatibility or suitability statement. Acceptance of that information remains subject to the designer, engineer and building consent authority.
